| Joliet Jaguar
Television is a subsidiary of Joliet Jaguar Youth Hockey.
It has been in existence for 14 years. It originally
was started by a handful of dedicated parents who secured a
grant for enough money from St. Joseph medical Center to start
videotape productions of Joliet Jaguar hockey games. Since
that time it has developed into an extremely high quality
production (we have won 24 local cable awards in the past 6
years) of about 30 Jaguar games and 12-15 high school hockey
games each season. Each game takes at least 10 people for
a quality production. We use 4 camera positions, 1
announcer, 1 color commentator, 1 sales desk person and 3
control room (director, instant replay, and graphics)
personnel. Even though out equipment is professional, with
about 20 minutes of training, parents can learn to operate
almost any specific equipment we have.
What is my team's obligation
to Jaguar Television?
There is no obligation for any individual team to
participate in Jaguar Television. However, if you want
your child's game to be videotaped and aired on the Joliet
community channel you must provide at least 5 preferably 6
parents to help with the production of your child's game.
This would include 4 camera people, 1 color commentator, and 1
control room person. Joliet Jaguar Television has a core
of volunteers who will fill in the remaining positions.
How many games can my
child's team have videotaped?
In previous years we allowed teams to do as many games as
they could provide people for. This however became
burdensome as teams were scheduling few games at the beginning
of the year and many games at the end of the year. This
year we want each team to submit their home schedules to us as
soon as possible. We will then look over each schedule and
attempt to schedule games evenly over the season. We will
try to work with team and be as flexible as possible in this
scheduling. We would like to make sure that we have
scheduled each team that wants to televise games at least twice
before we consider scheduling more games. This will make
it easier on our control room staff and announcers as it will
allow them to know further in advance what games they will be
helping with.
Can I buy a copy of my
child's videotaped game?
Absolutely!! That is really the reason for Joliet
Jaguar Television's existence. Regular season games are
$16.16 if you pick them up in the pro shop, and $20.00 if you
have them mailed to your house. Duplication takes about
1-2 weeks, but is sometimes much faster. Tapes are
Copyguarded and cannot be re-duplicated.
We at Jaguar Television are
excited about the upcoming season and encourage you to help out
your child's team by volunteering to assist Jaguar
Television. Joliet Jaguar Television has grown to be what
it is today because of the dedicated volunteerism of the hockey
parents. If you are interested in helping with other games
beside your child's games please let us know as this is the only
way Jaguar Television will continue to grow and excel.
