Maddie was waiting for just the right moment
to score her first goal! She celebrated by
scoring 2 more goals and adding 2 assists!
Congrats to Maddie on her first goal, her
first hat trick & her first 5-point
game! Eight different girls scored and nine
(including goalie Whitney!) got assists.
This was a true team win with 11 different
girls getting points.

| In
an early morning game, the Jaguars came
ready to play against their toughest
opponent - the Crystal Lake Leafs. Off the
opening face-off, Mikaela Gardner scored to
give the Jaguars the 1-0 lead only 11
seconds into the game. Shots were nearly
even in the first period as the Jaguars put
9 on net to the Leafs 8. The Jaguars found
the back of the net 3 more times. The Leafs
scored late in the first, shooting from
behind the goal line and bouncing the puck
off a Jaguar, the post, Jazmin's back and
into the net. The Crystal Lake coached
calmed their team down and they played tight
defense only allowing 4 Jaguar shots in the
2nd period, one of which scored on a nice
shot from Katie Mahoney. Looking like a
carbon copy of the first goal, Alyssa
Gorecki scored off the opening face-off of
the 3rd! Midway through the period, Kaitlyn
Maloney stole the puck and tipped it to
Monika Barrett who rushed the puck wide and
sent a screaming wrist shot past the outstretched
leg of the Leafs goalie. Crystal Lake
quickly responded on a breakaway goal. But
the Jaguars had the final word as Alyssa
Gorecki scored once more.
The Jaguar Girls celebrated with a team
sleepover at Whitney's house!!! Way to
go girls!!!

The
boys took the lead late in the 1st.
Mikaela scored on a scramble in front to tie
the game. The boys scored again to take the
lead but Monika put a quick end to that
celebration as she rushed the puck in for
her 2nd goal of the season. The boys got
another goal late in the 3rd, the coaches
pulled Whitney but the boys were able to
clear the puck out of their zone and get the
empty net goal.
Whitney played awesome in net stopping
several key breakaways!

Their
last victory over the Stars moved the Jaguar
Girls into second place, and they were now
playing for the spot in the championship
game. Katie Mahoney, 77, gave the girls to a
2-0 lead in the first period, but they faced
a 2-2 tie in the second period. Unable to
break the tie in the third, the girl Jaguars
faced-off with the Stars in overtime.
Mikaela Gardner scored the winning goal with
1:02 left in overtime.

Everyone
interested in helping with the growth of the Jaguar
Girls Hockey program is invited to attend the new
"Girls Committee" meeting. This committee
is open to all. The role of this committee is to
generate ideas to propose to the Board of Directors and
to execute the decisions of the Board under the
direction of the Director of Girls Hockey. Parents may
attend every week or whenever their schedule allows.
Everyone's voice is important!
