This
was a nail biter of a game!! Scoreless with
less than a minute to play, the girls showed
their great teamwork as Kayla Pierson did the
D-to-D pass over to Madeleine Slykas who sent
it up to Cara Piazza who scored! Tight defense
and strong goaltending continued to dominate
the game as we headed into the final 2 minutes
of the 2nd, still at 1-0. Katie Granato got
wide open in front of the net, caught an
amazing pass and beat the goalie 5-hole to
take a 2-0 Jaguar lead into the intermission.
Midway through the 3rd, the Chiefs cut the
Jaguar lead in half with a nice tic-tac-toe
passing play of their own. But little Katie
Granato was having having none of that as 18
second later she once again got open in front
and slammed home a rebound off Cara Piazza's
shot.
Congratulations to all of the girls on a very
well played game by all and an outstanding
victory for the GCHL Pee Wee A Championship.

Having
beat Crystal Lake 11-0 at the beginning of the
season, the Jaguars weren't sure what to
expect. Rumor had it the Leafs had improved tremendously.
Cara Piazza scored on the first shift of the
game to give the Jaguars the early lead. But
the rumored improvement was true and the Leafs
shut down the potent Jaguar offense for over 6
minutes. The teams exchange goals midway
through the period. With the score only 2-1
heading into the last minute of the period,
tension was high! Defense Madeleine Slykas
rushed the puck and had her wicked wrist shot
deflected behind the net by the Leafs
goaltender. Madeleine got her own rebound and
brought it back out front where she lifted it
over the Leafs goaltender. Inspired by that
hustle, Savannah Harmon added one more to
close out the period 4-1. Crystal Lake played
a strong, defensive 2nd period allowing goals
on only 2 shifts. Both teams looked tired in
the 3rd as the Jaguars were able to add two
early tallies before the Crystal Lake defense
took over.
Congratulations to the girls on their great
season & Championship win!!

| In
our first of many (hopefully) playoff games,
the girls faced their GCHL 10U semi-final
opponents from Winnetka. The girls set the
tone for the game with a quick goal from #11
Shannon Smith, right off the opening face-off
and the girl's never looked back. Everyone got
in the mix, highlighted by a great 2 goal, 2
assist night from #21 Paige Gorecki and a 2
goal night from Madison Contreras. #20
Joni Malinowski added another shutout to her
2004-2005 total.
The Girls
advance to the GCHL 10U finals on Sunday 2/20.

| In
the final PeeWee A game of the regular season,
the Jaguars found themselves facing the
physical Winnetka 12U girls for the second
time in a week. Things got off to a slow start
as the referees were a "no-show". So
as to not waste the trip all the way to
Buffalo Grove, assistant coach Steve Smith and
one of the Winnetka coaches pulled their
skates out of their cars, dusted off there
whistles and the game was on.
Both teams
played a clean, fast paced game and Cara
Piazza tallied all the Jaguar goals to clinch
the final victory of the regular season.

1: The Indy Stars are in town for a 3-game
GCHL Pee Wee A division series. Both teams are
battling for 1st place. The Jaguars got their
1st look at the Stars goalie, 5'11" on
her skates! yikes! The Jaguars peppered her
with 25 shots and Cara was able to lift a shot
over her shoulder and Shannon found a tiny
space in between her feet to give the Jaguars
a 2-0 lead. While considerably smaller in her
net, Joni stopped all 15 Indy shots for her
4th shutout of the girls season. Ken Woody

Matched
against a less skilled opponent the Jaguars
used this opportunity to further develop the
depth of their team. The girls responded well
working on their passing and positioning. The
overall effort is highlighted with a hat trick
from Katie Granato and 2 goals from defense woman
Taylor Willard. Reflecting on our own humble
beginnings a mere 3 years ago - keep an eye on
this 1st year program as they reminded us a lot

the only team to have beaten them this year.
The rematch against the older and taller
Chiefs was on. After the Chiefs jumped out to
a 1 goal lead the Jaguars responded with 2 in
the first period and never looked back. Adding
3 more in the 3rd period, the Jaguars recorded
a convincing victory and evened their regular
season record with the Chiefs to 1-1-1. Look
for this one to be settled in the 12U GCHL

For
many of the girls this was their first
Tournament Championship game and the Sabres
exploited that inexperience to jump to a quick
3-0 1st period lead. However, the Jaguar Girls
picked up a goal from Kayla Pierson with 11
seconds to go in the 1st period and from then
on the girls proved that they deserved to be
in the championship game. Shutting out the
Sabres in the next 2 periods, the Jaguar Girls
added a goal in each of the next 2 periods. In
the 2nd, #17 Savannah Harmon put one past the
Sabre goalie with an assist from #1 Madison
Contreras and in the 3rd, #6 Katie Granato
took a pass from #11 Shannon Smith and wrested
the puck between the Sabre goalies pads. With
the score tied after regulation the girls
entered a 5 minute overtime period. Neither
team scored and the girls found themselves in
a shootout where the Sabres ended the girls
run, scoring on all 3 of their shots to the
Jaguars 1. The girls will take this experience
and apply it as they pursue both State and
GCHL playoffs.

In
a rematch of their only loss of the season,
the Jaguar Girls were looking to show the
bigger and taller 12U team that they had
learned from their previous defeat and have
come together as a team. After a scoreless 1st
period it was clear that the Jaguars were not
at all intimidated by their Pee-Wee A
opponents. Although the Jaguars had multiple
scoring opportunities the Chiefs opened the
scoring with a goal in the 2nd period.
The Jaguars quickly responded in the 3rd
period. Shannon Smith moved the puck back to
Taylor Willard at the point who then put a
nice shot on net and Cara Piazza drove home
the rebound. The final score ended up
1-1...these teams will meet one more time in a

Playing
against our first boys team of the year, these
girls really came out to play. The Jaguar
girls once again used their speed and passing
to control a bigger Sabre team. Savannah
Harmon opened the scoring, going coast to
coast and beating the Sabre goal tender with a
nice move. The Jaguar opened up a 2 goal lead
on a beautiful centering pass from Shannon
Smith to Paige Gorecki. Paige's one-timer cut
the Sabre goal tender off guard and proved to
be the game winner. The Sabres answered with a
goal shortly thereafter. The girls responded
with solid fore checking and goaltender Joni
Malinowski came up with some big saves to
close out the game with a 2-1 victory!

the Falcons 12-4. The 2nd period was all
Jaguars as Madeleine, then Savannah, then
Cara-twice to complete her hat trick, and
finally Madeleine again scored to make it 7-0
at the end of the 2nd. On her first shift of
the third, Katie intercepted a Falcons D-to-D
pass, flew in on a breakaway and scored! The
Jaguar defense held until late in the 3rd when
a 5th rebound was batted in by the Falcons,
