win Girls 10U AA State Championship
THE THIRD TIME IS THE CHARM!!!
JAGUAR GIRLS WIN 10U AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!!!!!
For the third year in a row,
the Joliet Jaguar 10Us faced the Team Illinois 10Us for the
State Championship. TI won the last two match-ups. The girls
were determined that this was their year.
The game started out with up
and down action but not a lot of shots making it on net. The
Jaguars sent just 5 at the TI netminder and Alyssa opened the
scoring with 4:21 left in the first with a sharp wrist shot.
The Jaguars dominated the 2nd
period, peppering the TI goalie with 13 shots. Mikaela walked
the TI defenders and scored early in the period to put the
Jaguars up 2-0. The TI goalie was strong, stopping numerous
Joliet scoring opportunities. With just 33 seconds left in the
period, Paige rifled a pass through traffic in front of the net
to Kayla who one-timed it over the sprawling TI goalie to end
the period 3-0.
Despite generating another 10
shots, Joliet was unable to score again. With just 1:31 left in
a game, a turnover in front of our own net allowed TI a great
scoring opportunity and the TI winger sent the puck top shelf
and cut the Jaguar lead to 3-1. With the TI player pulled for an
extra attacker, Alyssa was able to steal the puck and pass it up
to a speedy Mikaela who skated in the zone & shot the puck
past the TI backcheckers into the empty net.
Final Score 4-1 Joliet - and
the crowd went wild!!!! What a great end to a great
season!
